Police slap MOCCA on Rajan gang men who attack Sena leader
The Thane police have slapped charges under the Maharashtra Organised Crime  Control Act (MOCCA) against thirteen persons said to be of the Chotta Rajan gang for their involvement in the attack on Shiv Sena leader from the city in July last the police said.
The officials of the Anti Extortion Cell who arrested the alledged accused said that they had organised the attack on the Shiv Sena Deputy Region Chief Rajesh Ghatge of Kopri in the eastern part of Thane city.
The murderous attack along with firing from which Ghatge had a miraculous escape was an outcome of the previous enemity the police said and added that Ghatge was an Octroi agent operating in the city.
Ghatge who survived the attack by chopper and later firing from revolver was treated at the local hospital and he recovered and menwhile the police nabbed one by one and ended with thirteenth person.
The arrested accused have criminal records of serious crimes within the  limits of the police stations of Thane, Mumbai and Navi Mumbai the police said.
