Three interstate gang including two naval employees arrested on the charge of dacoity
The city police arrested three inter-state gang members including two Indian Navy employees working in Visakhapatnam who were involved in a dacoity at a jewellery shop
in the city on September 25.
  Addressing a press conference here today, City Police Commissioner J.Purnachandra Rao said  based on some clues, the police visited Bhind in Madhya Pradesh and with their help arrested one Manish Chowhan of Bhind town.
    During the investigation,Manish confessed to the crime and revealed the involvement of two Naval employees-- Santosh Kumar Singh, Leading Seaman and Jagatha Ramakrishna working as chief petty officer.  Police recovered 1.5 kgs of gold ornaments from their possession.
    These two naval employees harboured the dacoit gang, guided and moved with them in the city.They also participated in the crime that took place in Madhavadhara, under Fifth Town Police station``Search is on for the other accused and to recover the remaining ornaments,’’ the commissioner said.  It may be recalled that in a daring daylight robbery, these dacoits looted over two kilos of gold and one kilo silver ornaments all worth Rs 70 lakh  by threatening the owner of  Nandini  jewelry shop with guns in Muralinagar.
     The owner of  the shop Reddipalle Venkata Rao gave away the ornaments without offering any resistance. The incident took place between 2.30 pm and 4 pm when the power was off and the CCTV cameras were silent.
       The five member gang came in a vehicle and robbed the shop after gagging and tying the owner and his wife Snehalatha.
      Later they abandoned the vehicle.
